Volunteer
The Little Falls Watershed Alliance started as an all volunteer endeavor - everyone including the lawyer who filed our 501 c(3) application, the webmaster, the graphic designer, the invasive weed event leader and the speakers at our events.
We have grown to have a part-time executive director and some paid contractors, but we can't do it alone. We need your help. With many hands, we can get a lot done.
Join our Stream Monitoring Team
We have an active stream monitoring team that does a survey of benthic macro-invertebrates. They sample four times as year as well as help run our very popular Creek Critters program. For more information contact us at info@LFWA.org
Do a Bird Count
We participate in the Audubon Society Great Christmas Bird Count and the Backyard Bird Count. Learn more about the counts HERE.
Adopt a Meadow
Our meadows need continue maintenance to prevent them being overtaken by invasives. If you would like to adopt a meadow, we would train you on what work is needed. Click here to learn about our meadows.
Join the Board
If you would like to get involved with the organization of LFWA, we are always accepting nominations for new members. Contact info@LFWA.org for more information about our board and the expectation for board members.
Office/civic group Work Days:
We host work days for for groups interested in environmental stewardship. We provide all the tools and training necessary as well as a site supervisors. Contact us at info@lfwa.org if your group is interested in doing a trash pick-up or an invasive weed removal work day. We ask that office/business groups make a small contribution to cover our expenses, but scholarships are available.
Community Work Days:
We host trash pick-ups and habitat restoration work days that are open to the community. They are preapproved for MCPS SSL Hours. Kids under the age of 14 MUST be accompanied by a supervising adult. Visit LFWA.org/Events for a list.
Contact us to see what other volunteer opportunities we have. Together, we can make a difference in the watershed.
